Kiva Video

I discovered kiva.org when I was a Junior at Taylor.  Now, 3 years later, I am a kiva nut.   I first loaned $25 to a group of entrepreneurs in Paraguay for their retail clothing business.  I was fully repaid 12 months later and was able to lend to another woman in Azerbaijan.  I was just repaid from that loan 2 weeks ago and have loaned it to another woman in Samoa.
My initial investment of $25 two years ago, has helped three businesses around the world.
What I like about Kiva is that the $25 keeps on going and going.  It will never stop helping people.
Watch this video to see what I'm talking about.

A Thought for the New Year...

Happy new year!  Do you have your resolutions made yet?  Well one of mine came after I heard a sermon at Fellowship Bible Church in Nashville last month.  The pastor spoke about the story of the magi in Matthew 2.  I heard many great things that Sunday morning, but the one thing that stuck out in my mind was the magi's  actions when they found the Messiah.
These "wise men" caravanned thousands of miles from the east to Jerusalem.  They went on to Bethlehem where they arrived at the home of Mary and Joseph.  The Bible says when they arrived at the house, "they worshipped exceedingly with great joy!"
My new years resolution is to have moments like this.  When I think about my walk with the Lord over the past year, I don't know if I've ever had a where I've worshipped Him exceedingly with great joy.  The majority of my prayers in 2008 were help me with this God; or please give me this God; or why are you putting me through this situation?  It is time to change the topic.  2009 is going to be all about worship.   After all, wise men worship Jesus.

New House

It's been a while since the last update.  So here goes....
I moved to Broad Ripple 5 weeks ago to live with several international students from IUPUI.
I've also been working for AT&T for 2 months now.  God has been providing in amazing ways since I came back from London in May and I am just blown away by Him.  (Jeremiah 17:7-8)
Here's some photos of the new house.

New Job, New House, New Chapter

Well, it's been a while since my last entry and so much has happened, so here goes....
After searching and interviewing and searching and interviewing, I finally found a job!  I started last week and am loving my work.  I'm a sales rep for AT&T serving small to medium size businesses.  It's a great start.
I will be moving into a new house located just south of Broad Ripple, in down town Indy.    I will be moving in on August first and my 2 room mates will be moving in mid August. They will be coming from Saudi Arabia to study at IUPUI.  The house is a duplex, so the other side will be occupied by another young American man as well as 2 more Saudi students.  I am really excited to get to know more about ME culture.
Another exciting development.....
I will start helping an Iranian man with his english this Friday.  Sal, from Tehran, came to the US a while back and is seeking an ESL tutor.  I received an email seeing if I'd be interested and I agreed to meet with Sal.  After coffee at Starbucks last Friday, we agreed to begin meeting weekly for english lessons.  (he will be teaching me some Farsi as well)
Atypical is still going strong.  Many young adults from several different churches in the community are joining together each Sunday evening in the Hopwood's barn for worship, a message, and fellowship.  We will meet through August 10th and then end the summer with a huge worship fest on the 15th and 16th.
All in all, God had been and continues to do amazing things right before my eyes.  I'm so excited and thankful for all that the Lord has blessed me with.
Please email me and let me know how I can be praying for you.  davidn724@gmail.com

ATypical

ATypical, a new young adult ministry has begun.  This ministry came out of a growing need for people to experience a relevant and spirit filled worship gathering.
So, this past Sunday we had our kick off in a barn in Mooresville, IN and 60 people came from all over the community and the south side of Indy.  I don't know what this ministry will look like after the summer is over, but I am convinced that people have a deep need to connect with one another and their creator.  The church building is not the key, nor endless programs.  The key is depth.  Pslam 42:7 says, "Deep calls to deep."
There is a longing, a craving in the hearts of our generation to go deep.
Please pray for this ministry.  Pray that lives would be changed.  Pray that we might go deep spiritually and relationally with one another and with our creator.

Way Down Yonder on the Chattahoochee

I recently returned from a week long conference in Atlanta, GA.  The Crescent Project's annual Sahara Challenge took place on the north side of Atlanta in the Simposonwood Conference Center.  We learned so many things during the seminars on sharing Christ.  Some of my learning, however, took place early in the morning on the Chattahoochee river.  I went for a hike the first morning there and came across an old tree on the bank of the river that had fallen over.   This provided me with a great location for my morning devotions.
During this time of my life, there are so many unknowns.  Where will I work?  How am I going to pay off this stinkin college debt?  What is God calling me to do with my life?  In the midst of all the unknown I find peace in God's promise when he said to Jeremiah, "Call out to me and I will tell you great and unsearchable things that you do not know."
I really enjoyed my time spent on the Chattahoochee river simply seeking God and just enjoying His creation.
